Zwipe Partners with Inkript, Strengthening Position in MEA Biometric Card Market

A new partnership should help to further solidify Zwipe’s position in the Middle East and Africa biometric cards market.

The company has teamed up with Inkript, a digital security solutions provider based in Beirut. Inkript has card manufacturing facilities in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia certified by Mastercard and Visa, and shipped more than 70 million smart cards across the EMEA regions last year.

Inkript’s partnership with Zwipe revolves around the latter’s fingerprint sensor technology, with the two working together to produce biometric payment cards. This is a key focus area for Zwipe, which asserted in its most recent fiscal update that it “is at the forefront of a global shift towards more secure and convenient contactless payments,” adding that “the market is primed for growth.”

For Inkript’s part, Chairman Hisham Itani suggested that the partnership puts his company at the vanguard of an exciting new FinTech trend. “Biometric payment cards add a valuable layer for secure payments and banks are keen to have this innovative product,” he said.

Zwipe and Inkript say they expect to launch the first pilots of their biometric cards before the end of this year.
