“News of the integrations comes after multiple other recent announcements of FPC smartphone integrations with clients including Huawei and Vivo.”
A big-name smartphone maker is taking advantage of Fingerprint Cards‘ new FPC1075 sensor model in two new smartphones.
In a statement announcing the integrations, FPC declined to name the client in question, referring to it only as a “major OEM”. As for the new sensor, its size is somewhere between the FPC1025 and FPC1035 models, which have proven themselves proven popular in multiple smartphone integrations; and FPC recommends the FPC1075 for rear-mounted integration on mobile devices.
That suggests the new devices will follow a trend recently outlined by FPC wherein smartphone makers are opting for less expensive, rear-mounted sensors, in many cases because they want to make room for full-size displays on the front of their devices.
News of the integrations comes after multiple other recent announcements of FPC smartphone integrations with clients including Huawei and Vivo. It also arrives as FPC steps up its efforts in the emerging market of biometric smart cards, with the company having just announced a new sensor module specifically designed for such applications, and its first major customer for the new solution; its sensors are also being used in smart cards that have just been shipped by Zwipe.
