Precise BioMatch Embedded Software Featured on CardLab Smart Card

October 4, 2017

“Fingerprint Cards hardware and Precise Biometrics software have frequently been combined to offer biometric authentication, most often in mobile devices.”

In its first smart card integration, Fingerprint Cards’ T-Shape biometric sensor module is being supported by Precise Biometrics software.Precise BioMatch Embedded Software Featured on CardLab Smart Card In a statement, the latter company has revealed that its Precise BioMatch Embedded software is being used in the newly announced project.

The project revolves around CardLab, a Danish smart cards specialist that has been approved for European Union funding to develop a biometric smart card solution for “E-banking, E-commerce, E-government, payment, access and ID card solutions,” according to an earlier statement from that company. To that end, CardLab has become the first customer of FPC’s T-Shape module, which uses ultra-thin FPC1300 fingerprint sensor technology to enable smart card applications.

Fingerprint Cards hardware and Precise Biometrics software have frequently been combined to offer biometric authentication, most often in mobile devices. Now, Precise Biometrics’ support of the T-Shape module’s first deployment suggests that a whole new line of strategic collaboration may be opening up for the companies – especially given the growing excitement over biometric smart cards. Major names like Mastercard have been experimenting with the biometric payment card concept, and Zwipe has just announced its first shipment of biometric smart cards – also featuring FPC technology.
