A Brooklyn-based startup is offering a new biometric time and attendance tracking system. Called FingerCheck360, it’s an online platform seeking to leverage the biometric capabilities of newer smartphones for employee management.
Thanks in large part to the pioneering work of Apple’s Touch ID system, fingerprint scanners are now becoming standard features on upper- and mid-range smartphones, which means that for many employers, their staff are already equipped with potential time tracking devices. By taking advantage of those biometric capabilities in conjunction with smartphones’ GPS trackers, FingerCheck360 seeks to offer a simple, convenient and accurate method of punching in and out for work. Moreover, it automates other administrative tasks related to payroll administration such as the calculation and filing of applicable taxes, and the detection of inconsistencies and errors in employee punching.
Biometric time and attendance tracking systems appear to be on the rise. Paychex, another employee management platform, also recently announced the integration of biometric punching capabilities into its own platform; and custom-built systems have been installed in workplaces ranging from an industrial sugar mill to a retail bakery chain. For its part, FingerCheck360 appears to be uniquely online-focused, offering an easy-to-implement solution for modern, tech-savvy employers.
