“MedixSafe and SPT both have a significant installation base with EMS & Fire agencies and those customers will benefit from the unification under BioConnect’s Trust platform.” – Rob Douglas, Founder & CEO, BioConnect
BioConnect has acquired Silent Partner Technologies, a strategic move aimed at enabling the Toronto-based converged access specialist to offer a full “Chain of Custody” solution for controlled substances.
Based in Florida, SPT is a provider of RFID technology for asset management that serves a range of application areas; its IntelliView platform is cloud-based, allowing asset tracking from anywhere with internet access, and it features an inventory and service application allowing end users to see what services have been performed on a given asset and how much inventory has been consumed. The company was founded in 2004, and is run by a team of fewer than ten staff, according to its LinkedIn profile.
In announcing the acquisition, BioConnect framed it as a follow-up to its acquisition of MedixSafe in 2021. The latter was known for developing secure storage cabinets for narcotics in medical and emergency facilities, which were then made compatible with the BioConnect Trust Platform after the acquisition.
“MedixSafe and SPT both have a significant installation base with EMS & Fire agencies and those customers will benefit from the unification under BioConnect’s Trust platform,” explained BioConnect founder and CEO Rob Douglas.
All told, the acquisition will significantly extend BioConnect’s footprint. The core company already has more than 18,000 active subscriptions for its biometric physical access platform and counts much of the Fortune 100 among its client base. SPT will bring in its roster of more than 1,500 customers across a range of areas including EMS and fire services, fleet management, and heavy machinery.
Ryan Mueller, who first joined BioConnect in 2011 as a Senior Application Consultant and rose through the ranks to become VP of Customer Experience in 2021, will now act as General Manager of the SPT business unit, taking the reins from SPT founder Ted Kostis.
