The GT-400 HandPunch biometric time and attendance terminal available, through Schlage, now has the option of shipping with an integrated heater. Announced today by Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, the new INT-HTR-G integrated heater allows users to gather time and attendance data in extreme environments that normally would interfere with the HandPunch’s platen, used to accurately scan the hands of employees.
The INT-HTR-G equipped GT-400 HandPunch is ideal for colder than normal work environments, as well as those which are prone to extreme humidity that can result in condensation on the platen. The integrated heater, combined with the GT-400’s high-impact UV resistant enclosure, ensures that dust, rain, cold temperatures, condensation, dirt and moisture don’t get in the way of fast and efficient time keeping.
The GT-400 hand reader is fast and user friendly, which adds up to increased user acceptance. After entering a PIN and presenting a smart card, the GT-400 recalls the user’s enrolled templates. The user then places her hand on the area of the platen marked with a handprint and the GT-400 goes to work: performing and comparing over 90 measurements that include thickness, lengths and surface areas. Fingerprints and palmprints are not measured or enrolled with this solution, in favor of the user’s privacy.
The GT-400 is fast. The entire process takes less than one second to successfully complete, and now with the optional INT-HTR-G, which is available today, inclement weather won’t be slowing things down.
“Time and attendance reporting cannot stop because of inclement weather or cold environments,” summarizes Emily Flink, Ingersoll Rand marketing manager- biometrics. “Now, whether in a truck maintenance facility in Alaska or at an ice cream factory in the Caribbean, Schlage biometric terminal users can record their time and attendance data quickly and easily, regardless of the extreme temperatures.”
