Reliq Gets First Customer for Remote Care Wearables

February 1, 2021

Reliq Health Technologies has found its first customer for its new iUGO Home healthcare solution. The platform is designed to help doctors keep tabs on at-risk patients, and to help patients stick to their treatment schedules.

Reliq Gets First Customer for Remote Care Wearables

To that end, iUGO Home leverages a wearable Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) that supports two-way audio communication. iUGO will send a notification to the patient’s doctor or a family member in the event of a fall, or if the patient leaves a designated area like a care facility. It also comes with an alarm to remind patients to take their medication.

The PERS can take the form of a watch or a pendant, depending on what will be more comfortable for the wearer. Both devices have WiFi and cellular capabilities, and can be linked to other biometric monitoring devices through a Bluetooth connection.

Reliq itself is based in Ontario, and specializes in telemedicine and virtual care. Its first customer, on the other hand, is a long-term care facility in North Texas that will be using iUGO Home to keep tabs on its patients. The organization expects to outfit 3,000 patients with iUGO Home before the end of the year, with Reliq receiving roughly $30 per patient.

“iUGO Home is a highly scalable solution that was designed to support patients in their own homes or in residential care settings such as long term care and hospice facilities,” said Reliq CEO Lisa Crossley. “In the home, our solution supports seniors who are aging in place, giving family members and care providers the comfort of knowing that if their loved one or patient suffers a medical emergency, they will receive an immediate alert and will have the ability to speak directly to the patient to assess the situation.”

iUGO Home is compatible with Reliq’s iUGO Cloud platform, and can be paired with the company’s other remote patient monitoring products. It arrives shortly after Reliq added voice recognition to its iUGO Care platform to automate certain virtual care procedures.
