August 18, 2017

Zwipe has found a new distributor in the southern African market. The company has announced that South Africa-based Priority Group Holdings will market and sell its Zwipe Access biometric card through the Southern African Development Community, a decades-old economic community encompassing 15 member states.South Africa-Based Priority Group Holdings To Market And Sell Zwipe Access Biometric Cards

In a statement announcing the agreement, Zwipe said Priority Group Holdings’ client network includes “some of the region’s largest and most well-respected companies and organizations within the financial, healthcare and education segments.” Priority Group Holdings has already placed its first order for Zwipe’s fingerprint scanning cards, with its first deployment planned for Q3 of this year.

Commenting on the deal, Priority Group Holdings CEO Kgaudi Mahlangu suggested it was the product of a broader market shift, asserting that his organizations has “Seen a serious demand from our far reaching customer network for biometrics”. Mahlangu added that Zwipe’s solutions offered “the best combination of security and convenience that we could find.”

The agreement comes ahead of what is expected to be a larger transformation in the biometric smart cards industry with the emergence of new, flexible cards that have the size and shape of traditional payment cards. Zwipe’s own payment card solution is currently in the commercialization phase, even as the company continues to promote its Zwipe Access solution for access control applications.
