PHAB2 Pro and Moto Z Phones Offer High-Profile Showcases for FPC Sensor TechThey’re high-profile devices. The PHAB2 Pro is the first consumer smartphone to feature Tango, Google’s augmented reality platform designed to build virtual maps of users’ surroundings, which can be overlaid with data in realtime. Meanwhile, the Moto Z, which features a modular backside that can be swapped out for peripheral devices like a projector or an extra battery.

The devices were launched at yesterday’s flashy Lenovo Tech World event in Silicon Valley, featuring a celebrity endorsement from Ashton Kutcher. As such, they could be particularly high-profile smartphones through which to showcase FPC’s biometric technology. On the other hand, fingerprint scanners are increasingly standard smartphone features, particularly for premium devices; and FPC doesn’t exactly need help boosting its brand in the industry, given its leading position as a sensor supplier to a range of mobile OEMs.

Still, these major new integrations can only help to further promote FPC tech, and mobile biometrics more generally.
