[Money20/20] Jumio Embraces FaceTec’s ZoOm to Enhance Netverify Anti-Spoofing

Jumio Embraces FaceTec's ZoOm to Enhance Netverify Anti-SpoofingA major new industry partnership is combining a leader of the booming selfie authentication trend with one of the biometrics industry’s most effective anti-spoofing technologies. The JumioFaceTec alliance was announced at this week’s Money20/20 event in Las Vegas, with the companies revealing that Jumio has integrated FaceTec’s ZoOm 3D Face Liveness Detection system into its Netverify authentication platform.

It’s a remarkably good fit. Jumio has established Netverify as one of the most effective and popular authentication platforms for mobile channels, with the company’s recent Q3 report indicating 130 percent year-over-year sales growth, and a growing list of industry awards and accolades further validating its status as a leader.

FaceTec, meanwhile, recently became the first facial recognition provider in the world to attain Level 1 certification in iBeta’s Presentation Attack Detection evaluation, and is currently preparing to go for Level 2. With the iBeta lab being a part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program, the accomplishment offered a major validation for FaceTec as a leader in this area, so the partnership with Jumio will not land as a huge surprise to many industry watchers.

In a statement announcing the partnership, Jumio Chief Product Officer Philipp Pointner explained that in his company’s own tests as well, “ZoOm quickly distinguished itself as the segment leader,” while Jumio CEO Stephen Stuut highlighted additional benefits of the technology beyond security, asserting, “In addition to its anti-spoofing detection capabilities, FaceTec’s liveness detection offers some very tangible benefits in terms of a more streamlined user experience and omnichannel support.”

It’s already shaping up to be one of the identity industry’s most important partnerships, and one that is poised to deliver even stronger security to a growing number of client organizations around the world.
