Nymi has announced a new strategic partner in Konica Minolta.Japanese Imaging Solutions Company Takes a Stake in Nymi

Based in Japan, the company specializes in the manufacture of industrial imaging products such as laser printers. Medical imaging solutions also fall within Konica Minolta’s bailiwick, offering some overlap with Nymi’s growing focus on the pharmaceutical industry. Nymi’s biometric wristband device, the Nymi Band, can continuously authenticate a wearer via cardiac biometrics, allowing workers in pharmaceuticals and other highly regulated industries to access work computers or sign off on clinical trials without interruption.

In a statement announcing the companies’ new partnership, Nymi asserted that it “includes a financial investment by Konica Minolta in Nymi”, the value of which has not been disclosed. Beyond that, the companies are still trying to figure out what their partnership will entail, with Konica Minolta CTO Kunihiro Koshizuka asserting, “We have been engaged with Nymi discussing enterprise authentication and potential ways to work together.”

In any case, Nymi asserts that the partnership and Konica Minolta’s investment in the company “validates” its continuous, passive authentication solution, lending it further credibility as Nymi promotes the Nymi Band to industrial clients and other potential customers.
