Integrated Biometrics LES Tech Used in Wi-Fi Handhelds for Law Enforcement

June 6, 2019

Integrated Biometrics‘ Light Emitting Sensor (or “LES”) technology is playing a critical role in new mobile fingerprint scanning devices from SIC Biometrics.

Aimed primarily at the law enforcement sector, the IdentiFi devices are designed to support either a FAP 45 fingerprint sensor for single and two-finger roll print capture, or a FAP 50 sensors for capturing four prints simultaneously, while a third option is designed to enable rapid single-print capture. And with their support for Wi-Fi connectivity, the devices allows users to capture fingerprints across iOS, Android, and Windows operating systems.

Integrated Biometrics’ LES sensor is playing a crucial role in all of this, of course, ensuring that the devices can scan fingerprints under bright lighting conditions and reducing the need for frequent maintenance.

The company’s biometric technology has already seen high-profile law enforcement and border control applications, and in a statement announcing its use in the IdentiFi scanners, SIC Biometrics CEO Eric Talbot highlighted his partner’s renown in this market. “The reception our IdentiFi series has received has been extremely enthusiastic, and we believe the impressive track record of Integrated Biometrics’ sensors has played a big role in that early success,” he said.

The companies say that the IdentiFi sensors are already being used by federal law enforcement personnel, and it seems fair to expect further deployments given Talbot’s comments about the products’ reception.
