FaceTec has established a new partnership allowing the company to establish a footprint in the United Arab Emirates. IT solutions specialist Data International (or “gDi”) will work with the facial recognition specialist in collaboration with Digital Dubai, a government entity mandated with leading the city’s digital transformation.
Specific details about what the organizations will be working on have not yet been disclosed, but Digital Dubai has a strong focus on building the city’s digital economy, and on cybersecurity efforts.
“Collaborating with FaceTec to bring their solution to this region will finally allow biometric authentication to flourish as it should, ensuring the market will be using the best technologies available to maintain its high-security standards while greatly enhancing the user experience,” explained gDi CCO Omar Atta in a statement announcing the partnership, adding later, “FaceTec’s solution will enable some of the great use cases that have been designed to come to life throughout the region, as organizations will finally have the confidence needed in their authentication provider.”
Dubai has proven to be something of a hotbed for the adoption of biometric technologies in recent years. Last year, for example, the Emirates airline launched a biometric passenger screening system at Dubai International Airport; and police in Dubai have been using biometric authentication for personnel.
For FaceTec, the partnership reflects ongoing momentum after the company announced a 293 percent year-over-year increase in revenues in its second quarter update earlier this summer. For his part, CEO Kevin Alan Tussy singled out FaceTec’s private sector partner for praise in offering his own commentary on the development.
“We are so happy to be working with gDi, such a highly-regarded organization in the MENA region,” he said. “Digital Dubai requires their solutions to consistently demonstrate exceptional performance and value, and we are honored to have been chosen over dozens of other vendors from around the world to be one of their technology partners for the important, forward-thinking undertaking they have planned for the city.”
