FacePhi Reaches Biometric Milestone in iBeta Testing

June 4, 2020

“As per iBeta criteria, FacePhi’s technology was able to fend off all attacks during the PAD evaluation process.”

FacePhi Reaches Biometric Milestone in iBeta Testing

FacePhi has achieved an important milestone with its sophisticated facial recognition technology, announcing that it’s biometric technology is compliant to Level 1 of iBeta’s anti-spoofing test program, which assesses biometric liveness detection in accordance with the ISO 30107-3 standard.

iBeta is, by now, renowned for its status as the only NVLAP-accredited laboratory in the world with a testing program for Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) systems. And with awareness rising over the threat of presentation – or ‘spoofing’ – attacks that seek to fool authentication systems by mimicking legitimate biometric credentials, success in the testing program delivers an important distinction.

As per iBeta criteria, FacePhi’s technology was able to fend off all attacks during the PAD evaluation process.

Commenting in a statement, FacePhi Quality Department Director Jorge Félix Iglesias asserted that with the successful performance of FacePhi’s liveness detection technology, “facial recognition is reaffirmed as the most valuable biometric tool to ensure the comfort and security of users in any area where they need to validate their identity.”

The news comes just a couple of weeks after FacePhi’s announcement that Nubi, an Argentinian digital payments startup, had embraced its selfie-based authentication technology. That integration should serve to further reinforce FacePhi’s already strong position in the Latin American market in particular as the company seeks to expand its global presence.
