BioTect-ID Gesture Recognition Platform Has Users Draw Their Password

June 17, 2019

“BioTect-ID can be used to lock down any Windows device, and represents an expansion of BSI’s existing BioSig-ID identity verification solution.”

BSI's New Gesture Recognition Platform Has Users Draw Their Password

Biometric Signature ID (BSI) has announced the launch of BioTect-ID, a new identity verification solution that combines a 4-character password with gesture recognition. The platform asks users to draw their password with a finger, mouse or another input device, tracking their movements as they do so to make sure the right person is sitting at the computer.

BioTect-ID can be used to lock down any Windows device, and represents an expansion of BSI’s existing BioSig-ID identity verification solution. BSI is pitching the multifactor platform to banks and other financial services providers as a more secure alternative to passwords, authentication tokens, and even physical biometrics.

“Physical biometrics like irises, fingerprints, and facial features are irreplaceable and gone forever if stolen,” said BSI Founder and CEO Jeff Maynard. “BioTect-ID is completely non-invasive, requires only a simple a gesture to gain access and can be revoked, or replaced at any time thus creating the perfect security trifecta.”

BioTect-ID arrives shortly after BSI upgraded the security of its gesture-based BioProof-ID platform through the integration of Mitek’s selfie authentication technology. Maynard previously hinted at the launch of BioTect-ID in a March interview with FindBiometrics, where he also detailed the importance of multifactor authentication and the specific security benefits of gesture recognition.
