NEXT Supplies Fingerprint Readers for Government Project in India

January 17, 2020

Biometrics News - NEXT Supplies Fingerprint Readers for Government Project in India

The Indian state of Andhra Pradesh will be receiving a substantial number of fingerprint readers from NEXT Biometrics. Andhra Pradesh plans to use NEXT’s Aadhaar-certified readers to facilitate the distribution of government services and improve the living standards for people in rural areas as part of the state’s Navarathnalu program.

The full order is worth $750,000, and reflects NEXT’s ongoing efforts to expand its foothold in the Indian market. The company’s fingerprint recognition technology was first certified for Aadhaar use in June of 2018, and NEXT has since provided biometric sensors for numerous Aadhaar POS terminals and a sustainable agriculture project in the state of Maharashtra.

“We are very pleased that the work put in over the past months have resulted in the successful nomination for this project,” said NEXT Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faubrel.

“The network of partners and distributors that we have built up is key for our continued success in government programs,” added Vishal Pandole, NEXT’s Head of Sales for India. “This adds to the superior performance, reliability and user-friendliness of our sensor technology proven in numerous real-life projects and use-cases in India.”

NEXT is expecting to receive more orders from India over the course of 2020. The company received the first 20 percent of the payment up front, and indicated that the first batch of readers is now en route to Andhra Pradesh.
