“The agreement will place a particular focus on the emerging Internet of Things market, with NEXT Biometrics promoting SDKs and reference designs for bringing its fingerprint sensor technology into ARM7/8/9 and Cortex M4 microprocessors running on Linux and Android.”
NEXT Biometrics has entered into a new distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics, which will sell the company’s fingerprint technology to its client base.
The agreement will place a particular focus on the emerging Internet of Things market, with NEXT Biometrics promoting SDKs and reference designs for bringing its fingerprint sensor technology into ARM7/8/9 and Cortex M4 microprocessors running on Linux and Android. For its part, Arrow Electronics has been targeting the IoT market for some time, having announced an Azure certified development board in 2015, and more recently having launched an IoT app design contest.
In a statement announcing the agreement, NEXT said that Arrow would also target its technology at “access control as well as personal authentication devices such as tokens, key fobs and other innovative applications.”
This isn’t the first time the companies have worked together. In February of last year, NEXT and Arrow announced a collaboration on a turnkey biometric solution for Windows 10 IoT devices.
