The Cartes smart card exhibition has been rebranded under the Trustech umbrella, and will take place starting November 29th, organizers have announced. The event is expected to attract 18,000 attendees from around the world, and will feature big-name speakers including Tesla Motors co-founder and CTO J.B. Straubel and poker star Caspar Berry, among others.
There will be 14 thematic tracks to the conference, including ‘Biometrics for Authentication: The death of Passwords’ and ‘Smart Borders: Control? Prevent? Protect?’ – two areas in which biometric technology has played an increasingly important role in recent months and years. Its impact is also likely to be seen in the areas of ‘Data Management and Privacy: The Next Big Thing’, ‘Mobile Payments’, and the ‘FinTech Stage’.
Biometric technology has proven increasingly prominent in recent Cartes events, with companies like fingerprint sensor maker Egis Technology and NEXT Biometrics having shown off their solutions last autumn. This year, the technology should prove bigger than ever, and is likely to run across the breadth of topics slated for exploration during the conference.
The Trustech conference will take place in Cannes and will run from November 29th to December 1st.
