Svenska Spel, a Swedish lottery operator, has ordered 3,000 lottery terminals from Safran Identity & Security. The contract also entails related services and the use of a download server.
The ELITE lottery terminals enable ID document authentication and fingerprint recognition. Over 50,000 of the units have already been sold in Europe. In a statement announcing this latest contract, Safran Identity & Security EVP Samuel Fringant said it “once again confirmed our ability to provide lottery operators with innovative turnkey solutions.”
Commenting on the contract, Svenska Spel CIO Jörgen Olofsson said, “Safran has been a long time partner of Svenska Spel, and we are pleased to extend this cooperation which enables us to continue investing in our current platform in order to strengthen and secure our future success within retail.”
By demonstrating the value of Safran’s Identity & Security arm, the deal could boost Safran’s negotiating power as it hammers out a deal for the division’s sale to Advent International, with which it has entered into direct negotiations.
