In its first smart card integration, Fingerprint Cards’ T-Shape biometric sensor module is being supported by Precise Biometrics software.
In a statement, the latter company has revealed that its Precise BioMatch Embedded software is being used in the newly announced project.
The project revolves around CardLab, a Danish smart cards specialist that has been approved for European Union funding to develop a biometric smart card solution for “E-banking, E-commerce, E-government, payment, access and ID card solutions,” according to an earlier statement from that company. To that end, CardLab has become the first customer of FPC’s T-Shape module, which uses ultra-thin FPC1300 fingerprint sensor technology to enable smart card applications.

Major names like Mastercard have been experimenting with the biometric payment card concept, and Zwipe has just announced its first shipment of biometric smart cards – also featuring FPC technology.
