The FIDO Alliance will host free seminars on trends in effective authentication this week in Paris, and then next week in Barcelona, the consortium has announced.
Taking place in Le Méridien Etoile, Paris, on Friday May 5th, and then in Meliá Barcelona Sarrià, Barcelona, on Monday May 8, respectively the events will have a strong focus on Europe. They both will feature presentations from companies that have themselves implemented FIDO authentication standards, and FIDO says it will feature “hands-on tips” from these experts, according to statement announcing the event.
In the announcement, FIDO confirmed the events will “include case studies of FIDO authentication for payments, government and enterprise – and will feature discussions on FIDO’s applicability to PSD2 regulations, blockchain and GSMA Mobile Connect.”
FIDO also stressed in its statement that the events are open to anyone, “including media.” With high-profile companies like Google and Facebook having recently thrown their support behind FIDO protocols, the organization may be looking to further raise its profile among consumers and organizations looking to make a strong case for the security of their products and services.
The event comes as America’s influential National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) considers changes to its Cybersecurity Framework, with FIDO having urged the organization to incorporate multi-factor authentication into its recommendations.
While the events are free to attend, registration is mandatory.
