Digital Barriers has entered into a new partnership that will see its video streaming and facial recognition technologies integrated into autonomous vehicles.
The company’s new partner is NEXT Future Transportation, a company that offers modular, autonomously driving vehicles to act as public transportation. The firm intends to leverage Digital Barriers’ EdgeVis live video streaming technology into its fleet to enhance security, and to use its SmartVis facial recognition technology to identify customers for the purposes of offering services and adjusting user preferences.
In a statement announcing the partnership, NEXT Future Transportation CEO Emmanuele Spera pointed to both companies’ focus on technological innovation, calling a partnership with Digital Barriers “the ideal platform for developing a new way forward in our industry and answering the evolving needs of consumers on a global scale.” Spera added that the partnership will deliver his firm “better insights to provide safer, cleaner and more courteous public transportation, further motivating commuters to use our services”.
News of the partnership arrives soon after Digital Barriers’ announcement that its live streaming and facial recognition technologies would be integrated into dashcam equipment for police cars, suggesting that the company has struck a new vein in the automotive market.
