“In its lawsuit, Crossmatch is demanding that Integrated Biometrics be prevented from continuing to sell the offending devices, and also seeks compensation…”
Crossmatch has filed a lawsuit against Integrated Biometrics, accusing the company of patent infringement. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court of Delaware.
In a statement, Crossmatch claimed that multiple Integrated Biometrics fingerprint scanners infringe four Crossmatch patents pertaining to “core functionalities of fingerprint scanners”. The company asserted that all of Integrated Biometrics’ FBI-certified scanners infringe the patents.
In its lawsuit, Crossmatch is demanding that Integrated Biometrics be prevented from continuing to sell the offending devices, and also seeks compensation including “treble damages for willful infringement and recovery of attorneys’ fees,” according to the company’s statement. Commenting further, Crossmatch General Counsel Kathryn Hutton said her company “will forcefully defend our intellectual property and take action against those who violate it.”
The lawsuit comes the week after Integrated Biometrics’ announcement of a new FBI-certified 10-fingerprint scanner.
