Biometric identity solutions provider id3 Technologies has achieved MINEX III compliance for its smart card fingerprint scanner solution, the company has announced.
The Minutiae Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) III test is run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is designed to assess fingerprint identification technologies with respect to the US government’s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) standards. As such, compliance with MINEX III assures the suitability of technology for government deployments, opening up a number of new potential clients.
The testing validates the performance of id3’s solution, which enhances the security of its smart card sensor system with match-on-card technology, allowing biometric matching to be performed on the device itself, with no need to transmit sensitive biometric data for comparison on a remote server.
Commenting on the NIST testing results in a statement, id3 President Jean-Louis Revol said they “prove once again that our fingerprint on-card comparison technology is able to compete with the best fingerprint recognition systems while offering much better security and privacy to the end-user.”
