RealNetworks Brings On New CRO to Further SAFR Sales

Jay Burrell has joined the RealNetworks team as the company’s new Chief Revenue Officer for computer vision. As the CRO, Burrell will primarily be responsible for overseeing global sales and business development for the company’s SAFR facial recognition platform.

“The facial recognition market is growing at an exponential rate, with a variety of uses cases for businesses and individuals alike,” said Burrell. “SAFR has already shown real market leadership with its performance and accuracy. I look forward to working with the incredibly innovative SAFR team to build on our momentum and grow into new markets and regions.”

Burrell brings more than 20 years of experience to the position, with prior stops at GE, Microsoft, and IBM. With SAFR, he inherits a portfolio that already includes several high-profile sales partnerships around the world. In the past year, RealNetworks has formed distribution partnerships with Net One Partners and Shenzhen Homtar High-Tech Co. to sell SAFR to clients in Japan and China, respectively. RealNetworks has also joined forces with Digifort, a Brazilian security company with customers around the world.

An upgraded version of SAFR was recently announced at last month’s ISC West conference in Las Vegas. The addition of Burrell should keep that momentum going as the company moves forward in 2019.
