Toronto-based touchless biometric solutions company Invixium has announced a partnership with UK-based Orthoplastics in which Invixium provided its touchless, temperature-based attendance system IXM TITAN with Enhancement Kit in order to help keep Orthoplastics employees safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Orthoplastics, a subsidiary of Viant Corporation, is a manufacturer of high-grade orthopaedic UHMWPE – highly durable, FDA-compliant plastic for human joint replacement. As a result of this partnership with Invixium, the company’s two facilities north of Manchester can now screen all employees at the beginning of each shift.
“Here at Orthoplastics, our priority is always our people. We are doing everything we can to make sure that our employees’ health, safety and well-being is at the core of everything we do,” said Mark Allen, Managing Director at Orthoplastics. “Aside from the changes to the workplace and our working practices, we have also implemented a COVID team who regularly meet to review the latest government advice to make sure we are following the most up to date guidelines and whether there are any further actions required to remain COVID secure.”
The move to biometric contactless temperature screening saw Orthoplastics migrate from its older, analogue card-based system and a manual temperature method, to a new touchless facial recognition and temperature screening solution in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The effect of installing IXM TITAN with Enhancement Kit has been quite positive,” said Mark Hereward, Business Systems Director at Orthoplastics. “When the pandemic began, we needed to pivot very quickly to an appropriate and effective system for protecting staff health throughout the day.”
Hereward went on to note that the simple installation and implementation of the TITAN solution, aided by support from Invixium, made the transition to the new touchless system seamless for his company.
The TITAN is a dual-camera multimodal biometric kiosk capable of performing contactless facial recognition and mask detection, as well as measuring body temperature. Employees are scanned at the beginning of their shifts, and if their temperature falls within an unacceptable range entry is denied.
“Invixium has always taken pride in assuring employee safety and security through impeccable biometric products,” said Shiraz Kapadia, CEO & President at Invixium. “Our installation at Orthoplastics highlights this commitment and accentuates how security has evolved to encompass employee health in light of COVID-19. We are very proud that our advancements in biometric solutions have enabled Orthoplastics to offer employees a healthy, safe, secure and productive work environment.”
Following several months using the TITAN solution, Orthoplastics reports that the system has been highly effective and is exploring the possibility of adding additional IXM TITAN with Enhancement Kit devices to its operations.
