Neurotechnology, a Lithuania-based producer of biometric identification software, has announced a new software development kit. Dubbed VeriLook Surveillance 3.0, the SDK provides advanced biometric video identification capabilities.

Neurotechnology’s new solution can differentiate between people and objects, and can track a unique face even when that face is momentarily or partially obscured or turned away from the camera.

Aspiring to a human-level quality of surveillance – with a machine’s endless quantity – the software analyzes live video feeds from high-definition cameras, scanning for both faces and movements.

Moreover, the technology can use biometric tracking on distinct facial features and their indicated emotions, thereby allowing easy identification of scowling bad guys.

Even when cameras are trained on an area where the faces are too small to allow for biometric identification, the technology is able to track individuals movement, and to measure it against pre-set boundaries such that if someone were to enter a restricted area, VeriLock would detect this and could be configured to set off some sort of alarm, notification, warning, etc.

Neurotechnology already claims over 2500 clients who are integrating their technology into their security apparatuses, but there always seems to be room for more growth in this area amid heightened security concerns worldwide and a growing appetite in markets like North America and the Asia Pacific region for security scanning technology.
