Imprivata is trying to make it easier for healthcare organizations to adapt to the new digital work environment. The company noted that many healthcare organizations are not as secure as they once were, largely because access control has become far more complicated than locks and doors. Employees are using digital applications and gaining access to sensitive materials from a rapidly expanding array of devices and locations, and that remote and cloud setup has exposed potential gaps in many cybersecurity setups.
With that in mind, Imprivata has released a new digital identity maturity assessment tool to help healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs) evaluate and improve their security postures. The tool is little more than a questionnaire, but the answers will highlight any shortcomings, and allow organizations to refine their digital identity strategies based on the results.
The tool itself consists of 10 questions, which collectively focus on four key areas of security. Those areas are governance and administration, identity management, authorization, and authentication and access, all of which can be brought together with a cohesive digital identity framework. The tool is based on Imprivata’s own digital identity framework, and the company will generate custom reports for each organization that fills in the questionnaire.
Imprivata will also provide HDOs with a roadmap that they can use to upgrade their digital maturity and achieve security compliance in each category. Those that do so will have more efficient workflows, and be able to keep pace with future security developments.
“Imprivata is responding to a critical and urgent ask from CISOs, CIOs, and other IT security and compliance leaders across the healthcare industry,” said Imprivata CEO Gus Malezis. “Our new assessment tool arms healthcare IT leaders with the critical insights needed to ensure a cohesive approach to designing, building, and managing their digital identity framework.”
