IDEX Biometrics is Back On the Hunt for a New CFO

July 15, 2022

IDEX Biometrics is Back On the Hunt for a New CFO

IDEX Biometrics is once again looking for a new Chief Financial Officer. The company has announced that Jamie Simms will depart the role effective August 15, and that it has already begun searching for his replacement.

Simms was with the company for just over a year, having become its CFO in April of 2021. In so doing, he replaced Derek D’Antilio, who himself had replaced previous CFO Henrik Knudtzon in mid-2019.

In announcing this latest change, IDEX did not disclose any particular reason for Simms’ departure.

“On behalf of IDEX, I want to thank Jamie for his contributions to IDEX,” commented IDEX CEO Vince Graziani. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

The timing of Simms’ departure does not appear to correspond to any particularly significant changes in IDEX’s business operations. In recent months the company has continued to work toward the mass commercialization of its biometric payment card solutions, which uses an embedded fingerprint sensor to confirm a cardholder’s identity during transactions.

Notably recent business developments include a reference design order from a Japan-based payment card integrator, and an Eastern Europe-focused partnership with E-Kart. Last month brought the news that IDEX had teamed up with Linxens, a company specializing in smart card inlays, contact plates, and NFC antennas.

While IDEX is now looking for a long-term successor to the outgoing Jamie Simms, the company has appointed Eileen Wynn, for former Chief Accounting Officer for Analog Devices, as interim CFO, effective August 15. The company says that Wynn has been acting as a consultant for IDEX since December of 2020.
