Experian Maintains Biometric Focus with Acuant PartnershipExperian is bringing yet more biometric capabilities to its CrossCore anti-fraud platform, thanks to a new partnership with Acuant. The latter is bringing to the table its AssureID solution, which combines document reading with facial recognition in order to match end users against their government-issued IDs.

In a statement announcing the partnership, the companies suggested that their combined solution could offer public sector organizations the identity verification tools they need “to quickly comply with the June 2017 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication on Digital Identity Guidelines.” Elaborating further, Experian Decision Analytics and Data Quality head Steve Platt asserted, “By leveraging a combination of document verification, biometrics and identity verification, businesses can reduce the over-reliance on personally identifiable information for identity proofing and better align with NIST guidelines.”

It’s the latest sign of Experian’s ongoing interest in biometric technology solutions. Last year, the company integrated behavioral biometrics care of BioCatch and NuData into its CrossCore platform, and it proceeded to team up with Daon, a specialist in mobile biometrics including facial, fingerprint, and voice recognition. With CrossCore being aimed primarily at the enterprise sector, and businesses and government organizations increasingly concerned about authentication security, it’s a smart approach to enhancing the marketability of Experian’s flagship solution.
