Daon Makes Biometric Employee Access Control Free for All New Customers

March 31, 2020

Biometrics News - Daon Makes Biometric Platform Free for All New Customers

Daon has become the latest company to offer free identity verification services during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this time, there are fewer strings attached. While other companies are providing free identity technology for organizations that have been deemed essential services, Daon has taken things a step further and is making the IdentityX authentication platform available for employee access control, free, to all new customers during the pandemic.

The company is hoping that those customers will be able to use IdentityX to maintain strong security as they transition to remote workplaces. Daon notes that many organizations still rely on vulnerable passwords, or on hardware tokens that can be lost or stolen. IdentityX, on the other hand, offers cloud-based biometric security that can be deployed without installing any on-premises equipment.

Daon warns that many cybercriminals are trying to exploit the disruption caused by the pandemic, and that biometric authentication can help guard against those attacks. In that regard, Daon echoes the concerns of Invixium, which has similarly advised organizations not to abandon biometric security practices in response to the coronavirus.

Yoti and Jumio are amongst the other companies currently offering free identity verification solutions. Daon, meanwhile, recently agreed to provide mobile onboarding services for the TONIK Digital Bank in Southeast Asia.
