SecuGen Heading to Connect:ID with New Fingerprint Sensor Module

February 20, 2020

Biometrics News - SecuGen Heading to Connect:ID with New Fingerprint Sensor Module

SecuGen will be showcasing its new U20-ASFX fingerprint sensor module at the upcoming Connect:ID event in Washington, D.C. The standalone U20-ASFX is compliant with the FAP 20 standard and can store up to 20,000 fingerprint templates, a figure that is 10 times greater than the module’s U20-ASF predecessor.

The new module can be used right out of the box thanks to SecuGen’s Fingerprint Management System. It also comes with a programmable single board computer with Linux functionality, as well as SecuGen’s fingerprint matching SDK. The company is marketing the module towards equipment manufacturers who can embed it in various devices to enable everything from fingerprint capture and enrollment all the way through to searches and matching.

The module is built with SecuGen’s FBI-certified U20-A optical fingerprint sensor, which was recently integrated into a new Chameleon tablet from Laxton.

“The SecuGen engineering team has delivered a significant improvement to our flagship OEM sensor while being able to keep the cost low,” said Engineering VP Dan Riley. “Our team has responded to our partners’ requirements and are very excited about the U20-ASFX.”

The U20-ASFX is making its debut roughly one year after the U10-SF, which was released during Connect:ID 2019. This year’s event is scheduled to run from March 11-12. SecuGen’s wares will be on display at booth #542.
