“The Philippines debut of the system follows soon after its launch this August in Malaysia, with Citi having previously indicated its aim is to become the first bank to roll out voice authentication across the entire APAC region.”
Citibank has brought voice-based authentication to the Philippines, reports BusinessMirror. The bank has launched such a system for its call-in lines in the country, with customers now able to enjoy a simpler means of authentication as they speak with bank representatives.
In announcing the move, bank officials focused heavily on the increased security it offers, with Consumer Banking head Bea Tan explaining, “We want to protect your account to an even greater extent,” and Citibank Philippines CEO Aftad Ahmed asserting that it was virtually impossible that a fraudster would impersonate a customer’s unique voiceprint. But the move also offers benefits in customer convenience and administrative efficiency by significantly cutting down the time it takes to identify callers.
The Philippines debut of the system follows soon after its launch this August in Malaysia, with Citi having previously indicated its aim is to become the first bank to roll out voice authentication across the entire APAC region. BusinessMirror reports that Citi expects about three million customers to enroll in the service within three years.
