Not to be confused with the British intelligence agency, the Mi5 is a new smartphone from China-based OEM Xiaomi. It’s a flagship device that was launched at this week’s Mobile World Congress, and as such it offers a high-profile demonstration of the power of FPC’s and Precise Biometrics’ technology.
That technology arrives in the form of FPC’s FPC1245 fingerprint sensor, and Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm software. It isn’t the first time that Xiaomi has integrated either company’s technology—a similar collaboration occurred with the Redmi Note 3, for example—and indeed FPC and Precise Biometrics’ longstanding partnership has seen their technology brought to a diverse range of mobile devices, and propelled them to leading positions in the mobile biometrics market.
In statement announcing the integrations, executives from both companies expressed their pleasure in bringing their technologies once again to a Xiaomi device, with FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto calling the company “a leading global smartphone manufacturer”.
