VSBLTY Provides RapidSOS Users With More Insight into Emergency Incidents

June 25, 2021

VSBLTY has partnered with RapidSOS to provide first responders with more information about emergency incidents. RapidSOS is the developer of an emergency response data platform that gathers data from a massive network of more than 350 million connected devices. 911 dispatchers can view that data, and pass it on to first responders so they know what to expect (and can make better decisions) before they arrive on the scene.

The partnership with VSBLTY will increase the amount of information at dispatchers’ disposal. To that end, VSBLTY will integrate its Vector software with the RapidSOS platform. Vector offers computer vision and facial recognition capabilities, and will help dispatchers distinguish victims from bystanders, suspects, and law enforcement officers. It also offers weapons detection and watchlist screening so dispatchers have a chance to warn responders about potential threats.

That information will supplement the data already available through the RapidSOS platform. That includes alarm data from connected buildings, in addition to health and medical data associated with 911 callers. More than 4,800 Emergency Communication Centers are currently using the RapidSOS service to guide their response operations.

Vector is an edge solution, so it can process video footage on the camera itself, and even lock down a smart building if weapons are detected. The platform supports license plate recognition, which can help the police during follow-up investigations.

“Through this partnership, Emergency Communication Centers, local law enforcement, and on-site security will directly receive critical information to verify and act upon alerts,” said VSBLTY Co-founder and CEO Jay Hutton. “Together, we are making data more actionable, and helping to protect lives and empower safer, smarter communities.”

VSBLTY has previously provided computer vision tech for a large-scale smart city surveillance project in Mexico City. More recently, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ability Enterprise to market their new smart camera solution to customers internationally.
