The Moldova government is preparing to implement a biometric citizen ID program using Vision-Box technology.
In a statement announcing the endeavor, Vision-Box explained that the government’s Centre for State Information Resources (CSIR) has selected the company’s vb e-pass desktop solution for deployment at 55 registration offices across the country. The deployments will allow for the biometric registration of citizens seeking to acquire ID documents, with the capability of capturing facial and fingerprint data and letting subjects provide e-signatures to confirm the biometric registration.
The deployment helps to demonstrate the versatility of Vision-Box’s biometric technology. While its most high-profile recent deployments have been in border screening applications, with Vision-Box having announced its Orchestra platform earlier this year, the company’s technology can also evidently be easily adapted to national ID applications. And as more governments around the world explore biometric ID programs, Vision-Box could see more such projects to come.
