Viscount Systems Wins Physical Access Control Contracts

“Essentially, Freedom makes good on its namesake by allowing for the connection of entry devices – including those that use biometrics – using a building’s standard IT network. This means no additional control panels or wiring is needed for a biometric upgrade.”

Today, Viscount Systems announced that it has been awarded contracts to deploy its Freedom access control technology and its VeriCert certification software to government facilities in Louisiana and California.

Though due to sensitivity reasons Viscount is unable to say what agency will be protecting itself behind its technology, the contracts total more than $50,000 in value. These new upcoming deployments are a continuation in a long line of contracts that are seeing Freedom rolled out across the Unites States and parts of Canada.

“We are pleased to continue our rollout of Viscount’s Freedom Access Control within the U.S. Government, adding another government agency to the Freedom family,” says Dennis Raefield, Viscount’s president and CEO. “The security and cost advantages of our Freedom access control technology continues to gain traction as a compelling value proposition combined with increased cyber security for physical locations. As the U.S. Government continues to move towards increased security requirements at all Federal Government facilities, we expect to see additional contract opportunities.”

Freedom access control attacks adoption barriers, which as we explored last week, is a major focus in this area of biometric application. In this particular case, Viscount serves the needs of the cost conscious. Essentially, Freedom makes good on its namesake by allowing for the connection of entry devices – including those that use biometrics – using a building’s standard IT network. This means no additional control panels or wiring is needed for a biometric upgrade.
