Daon has been helping to keep airline executives safe at this week’s Aviation Issues Conference in Hawaii. The event took place at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Kauai, where all conference attendees were asked to use Daon’s VeriFLY app to share their COVID-19 health credentials.
The VeriFLY app debuted in late 2020, and was developed to speed up health screening processes that were introduced in response to COVID-19. Travelers can use the app to upload vaccination records, COVID-19 test results, and questionnaire responses, and then share those documents with staff when they pass through a security checkpoint or board a plane. The app is geared toward the air travel industry, though it has also gained traction in the hospitality sector as a way to screen people in hotels and convention centers. In that regard, Daon partnered with Hyatt Hotels (which is hosting the conference) in March of 2021.
The Aviation Issues Conference is now in its 36th year, and is organized by the American Association of Airline Executives (AAAE). The event gives high-level air travel executives the opportunity to come together to discuss some of the major issues that are affecting the air travel industry at large, and to try to set a policy agenda to guide their lobbying efforts in Washington, DC.
The fact that VeriFLY was chosen as the Conference’s exclusive mobile health app partner likely speaks to its popularity with air travel stakeholders. American Airlines and British Airways were some of the earliest adopters of the app, and Alaska Airlines has also been using it to screen international travelers.
This year’s Aviation Issues Conference ran from January 9-13. Daon’s Vice President of Sales, Nick Hallas, discussed the company’s experiences with VeriFLY on a Facilitating Travel and Commerce Through Pandemic panel on January 13.
