Spain-based biometric onboarding leader FacePhi has won further recognition from its compatriots, this time from the Official College and Association of Graduates and Technical Telecommunications Engineers of the Valencian Community (COGITCV/AGITCV). The latter has named FacePhi as the winner of one of its 2021 Telecommunications Talent Awards, in its case in the Technological Company category.
The awards are aimed at recognizing the success of professionals and organizations from the Valencian territory across business and academia. In a statement announcing the award win, FacePhi framed it as validation “for the daily effort of all the people who make up FacePhi, the true core of the company; a multidisciplinary team that, day-by-day, shows commitment to a new project, developed in-house and with an international scope.”
The award win offers another indication that FacePhi is a darling of the Spanish business community. Earlier this year, FacePhi won the Alicante SME of the Year Award, and shortly thereafter Banco Santander and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain gave FacePhi the National SME Award for 2020.
The company is well-respected beyond Spain, of course. FacePhi is renowned as one of the leading pioneers of selfie-based identity verification, and has established a strong presence in the financial services sector with its SelphID solution. A number of financial services providers, particularly in the Latin American region, use the solution to let customers remotely confirm their identities simply by uploading a selfie image and pictures of official ID, with FacePhi’s facial recognition technology matching the faces in the images.
With the pandemic having boosted interest in the selfie-based approach to customer verification, FacePhi has enjoyed an especially strong growth trend of late, with the company reporting a 60 percent year-over-year increase in revenues for the first half of 2021.
FacePhi’s portfolio is not limited to facial recognition, however. The company recently announced a comprehensive new FacePhi Identity Platform that features fingerprint recognition, voice recognition, and behavioral biometrics in addition to facial recognition, and also supports digital signatures.
