A Toronto-based biometric attendance tracking specialist is working with a leading labor law firm to help spread the word about the benefits of biometric technology.
Actual iD president Jeff Crews and Andrew Ebejer, a lawyer with the Sherrard Kuzz firm, recently hosted a webinar for the Canadian HR Reporter. Entitled “At Your Fingertips: How Workplace Laws Impact Biometrics”, their discussion highlighted the opportunities available to companies interested in implementing biometric technology into the workplace.
In a statement, Ebejer asserted that when implemented according to regulatory guidelines, “biometrics can be a valuable tool to enhance legal compliance with employment standards legislation without violating individual privacy and human rights protections.” To that end, Actual iD’s time and attendance tracking platform uses uses biometrics to ensure that employees are accurately identified when clocking in and out for work, and in so doing helps to automate various HR practices including tracking vacation time, responding to employee inquiries, and retrieving information for an audit, in addition to tracking hours worked.
It’s one of a growing number of biometric time and attendance trackers, which are increasingly being sought not just for their benefits in cutting down payroll fraud, but for the efficiency they bring to HR management.
