The Week in Biometrics: Our Top Stories

November 14, 2020

Multifactor Biometrics

This week’s roundup of FindBiometrics’ top stories brings us a heaping of industry insights and expertise, with readers evidently keen to see what industry leaders have to say about the current state of affairs in biometrics.

One of those leaders was Suprema CEO Young S. Moon, who spoke with FindBiometrics Digital Content Manager Tony Bitzionis in an exclusive interview. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic loom large over their discussion, which also features details about Suprema’s FaceStation F2 biometric terminal, and the recent Suprema Connect 2020 virtual event:

IDmission CEO Ashim Banerjee brought more perspective to the table in an interview with FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill. IDmission has enjoyed a fast-rising profile in the industry, especially this year, and Banerjee was happy to take a look back at the company’s evolution from its beginnings over a decade ago, and to delve into the importance of liveness detection and some of the industry’s most exciting vertical markets:

The Biometrics Institute, meanwhile, shared some thoughts on perhaps thornier issues this week. Having polled participants in its online Congress on some timely questions, the industry group concluded that the biometrics industry needs to be more transparent, and to embrace standards-based testing, with the organizations’ chief executive asserting, “We need to define what good looks like and be transparent about our processes.”

This week also saw some considerable excitement about facial recognition news. Jumio, for example, got a lot of attention from readers with its news that the Amsterdam-based e-scooter startup Dott will be using its selfie-based authentication technology for rider verification:

And readers also proved interested in the news that Trueface and Modzy were teaming up on a joint solution that will be aimed at helping enterprise customers to integrate facial recognition into their physical and digital infrastructure:
