Tactivo Readers a Hit with NHS Foundation Trust

Tactivo Readers a Hit with NHS Foundation TrustPrecise Biometrics has received a follow-up order from its most recent client, a foundation trust with Britain’s National Health Service. Evidently satisfied with the Tactivo readers it ordered back in May, the foundation trust is now ordering 490,000SEK-worth of additional devices.

Precise Biometrics’ Tactivo readers are, of course, smart card-reading casings for iPhones and iPads that provide an extra layer of security for organizations looking to restrict remote access to sensitive data. Organizations are increasingly enabling remote access as mobile devices proliferate among employees, but given the associated security risks, the Tactivo readers are timely devices. And they appear to be particularly useful in healthcare, where mobile devices provide a highly convenient means of managing sensitive patient data.

Commenting on the latest NHS foundation trust order, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson explained in a statement that adopting Tactivo readers “increases employee flexibility and efficiency, while ensuring a high level of security by utilizing two-factor authentication,” and asserted that the new order demonstrates the foundation trust’s “confidence and commitment to Tactivo for convenient and secure mobile access to information systems and resources.” Tactivo readers were also recently approved for use in the Swedish healthcare system, so it’s possible the company will see the enthusiasm spread further in Europe in the near future.
