China-based OEM Smartisan is using biometric technology from Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics in two new smartphones. Called the M1 and M1L, the devices each feature an FPC1035 fingerprint sensor running Precise BioMatch Mobile, Precise Biometrics’ flagship algorithm software for mobile devices.
The new integrations underline both FPC’s and Precise Biometrics’ continuing momentum in the mobile biometrics market, with both having seen numerous recent smartphone integrations. Many of these integrations have occurred through repeat customers such as Huawei, as can be seen in its recent Honor 8 Smart device; but the companies are also clearly welcoming new clients, too.
The integrations also point to the growing preponderance of fingerprint scanning technology on mobile devices, with OEMs’ appetites continuing to grow.
