Precise Biometrics has entered into a new licensing agreement with a fingerprint sensor maker. Called Chipone, the Beijing-based company now has access to Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile technology.
The biometric algorithm software has been used in a wide range of mobile devices, most often through longstanding hardware partner Fingerprint Cards. But lately Precise Biometrics has signed numerous deals to license the technology to other sensor makers, seeking a wider presence in the market. This agreement with Chipone involved an undisclosed initial fee, with further royalty revenues to come, starting this quarter.
Commenting on the deal in a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson asserted that it “further strengthens our local presence in Asia and our position as the leading supplier of fingerprint software for mobile devices.” Meanwhile, for Chipone, it helps to ensure that the company “can provide a competitive total solution for fingerprint recognition,” said CEO JinFang Zhang.
