NEXT Biometrics has won the 2017 European Enabling Technology Leadership Award in Frost & Sullivan’s Annual Best Practices Awards, the company has announced.
In a statement, Frost & Sullivan lauded the thermal conductivity of NEXT Biometrics’ fingerprint sensor technology, which differentiates it from the many capacitive sensors on the market. Frost & Sullivan also highlighted the smart card applications of NEXT Biometrics’ fingerprint sensor technology. “NEXT offers the first fully flexible fingerprint area sensor for smart cards and the first commercial fingerprint sensor produced in low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) process,” the growth consultancy firm said.
NEXT Biometrics has in recent months placed a strong focus on its flexible smart card technology and its ability to mass produce such sensors as the biometric smart card market continues to emerge. Activity from competitors is also ramping up in this area, with many anticipating lucrative rewards for pioneers in this area.
But NEXT Biometrics’ line of solutions covers multiple markets, with the company having recently picked up a new European distributor for its USB fingerprint scanners. Looking at NEXT Biometrics’ overall prospects, Frost & Sullivan asserted that the company “is poised to grab significant market share with advantageous pricing, without sacrificing convenience and security of the sensors.”
