MorphoTrust (Safran) has won two major new state contracts. The new deals will see the company providing fingerprinting services for the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) and the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
The services will be offered through MorphoTrust’s IdentoGO Centers, the same facilities that process enrollment for the TSA PreCheck biometric pre-screening program for travelers. But the services entailed in these contracts with the WVSP and the DCJS will revolve around the mandatory background checks for prospective employees in positions of public trust, such as those in the areas of nursing, education, law enforcement, and so on. The latter contract will also involve biometric background checks for individuals pursuing certain kinds of licenses.
The company has previous experience as a contractor for both states, with similar services offered through previous contracts; meanwhile MorphoTrak, another Morpho subsidiary, has also worked with the WVSP, providing MorphoIDent mobile devices and its AFIS technology.
Commenting on the latest contracts in a statement, MorphoTrust SVP Charles Carroll framed them in terms of a larger trend in the company’s ID work with states via various programs. “As we continue to expand our IdentoGO Center locations and services offered, we look forward to making it even easier for citizens to participate in biometric-based background checks wherever and whenever they are needed, and ultimately enhance public safety,” he said.
