On Wednesday Morpho (Safran) and INTERPOL entered a five-year partnership that will provide the latter with a wide range of biometric security solutions. Automated biometric identification systems, state-of-the-art security solutions for the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovations (set to open in Singapore in 2014), and collaboration on border security matters, are all covered under the newly signed partnership, in addition to Morpho’s facial recognition technology for criminal identification.
Faced by the challenge of threats that accompany an increased number of travelers, and joined by other key partners, Morpho and INTERPOL will collaborate on the development of global standards and best practices in order to meet objectives head on.
The partnership comes from a need for industry expertise, the kind that Morpho has to offer. Ronald K. Noble, INTERPOL’s secretary general, summarizes: “As criminals employ ever more sophisticated ways to avoid detection, so too must law enforcement benefit from the latest advances in technology, especially in biometrics, to more effectively combat all forms of transnational crime,”
Morpho has been supporting INTERPOL in combating trans-border crime since 1999, delivering advanced biometric solutions, like its Automated Fingerprint Biometric System, to be conscripted into the ongoing war against travelling deviants.
