Mobile devices may take on a new purpose in the near future by using constant biometric monitoring to remotely determine whether or not security guards or other sentry humans or animals have been killed, attacked, injured or even drugged. A new patent (#8,461,981 @ US Patent and Trademark Office) detailing this technology has been filed by the New York College of Health Professionals, president Lisa Pamuntuan noting that Chairman Donald Spector has helped create many billion dollar industries around technologies such as location-based advertising, electronic air fresheners, hydraulic exercisers, and hyperbaric seed chambers.
This new revolutionary new idea will marry a wide variety of biometric sensors with the capabilities of mobile devices in order to determine not only the safety of field personnel, but also their readiness and thus their current capability, enabling better assistance of troops in the field and increasing response time and efficiency. Lisa Pamuntuan predicts this product will be quick-to-market due to the ease of implementation and the great value it can bring to those attempting to assure the safety of those in high risk situations. She also expects other public safety market verticals to open up after launch. Michael Malboni of Homeland Security calls the technology a “crucial advance” and says he looks forward to working with the New York College of Health Professionals and its partners on this and other projects.
