ISC West: MicroStrategy’s Usher Offers Built-In Compatibility with Access Control Platforms

MicroStrategy’s Usher platform is now compatible with access control platforms from companies including Datawatch, Honeywell, Lenel, Paxton, S2, and Tyco. The company announced the integrations at the start of this week’s ISC West conference in Las Vegas.

ISC West: MicroStrategy's Usher Offers Built-In Compatibility with Access Control PlatformsUsher essentially turns mobile devices into security credentials by leveraging technologies such as NFC, Bluetooth, and QR codes. For example, the Usher app for Apple Watch, launched last spring, is able to detect a designated facility entrance as a user approaches it, and will send a notification to the user prompting her to perform an authentication action to gain access to the entrance. Explaining the rational behind the platform in a statement, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor said, “We never leave home without our trusted mobile companions, so why not take advantage of their flexibility and horsepower?”

Adding to its credibility, the Usher platform recently attained FIDO certification, and it also features options to enable more sophisticated authentication options such as biometrics. And now, offering built-in compatibility with major access control platforms in addition to an API for custom deployments, Usher will be that much more appealing to businesses looking for an advanced access control solution.
