Innovatrics is laying claim to a world record with a newly achieved matching speed of 1.04 billion matches per second for its fingerprint recognition algorithm.
The achievements represents a considerable leap ahead of Innovatrics’ previous speed record of 720 million matches per second, and was performed using a single server via an Intel Xeon Platinum 8180 processor on Intel Skylake architecture.
Commenting on the 40 percent increase in speed, Innovatrics CTO Jan Lunter pointed to its benefits with respect to Innovatrics’ AFIS system, calling it a “significant improvement in performance levels” that “will result in even more cost savings for our large AFIS customers.”
The achievement further burnishes the credibility of Innovatrics’ fingerprint recognition technology, which achieved 99.98 percent accuracy in the NIST’s Proprietary Fingerprint Template Evaluation II test at the end of last year – the test’s top ranking.
